Publication Policy

Our publishing policy covers all content published on the NAWA Media website and provides a framework for all our staff members, contributors and partners that adheres to our values, identity, and professional ethics.

At NAWA Media, we publish investigations on various topics, produced by early-career journalism from West Asia and North Africa. The types of articles we publish include:

Blogs: These are specialized articles offering in-depth explanations for journalists on certain tools and methodologies aimed at boosting their efficiency in carrying out journalistic and open-source investigations. These articles are produced by a team of seasoned professionals who extensively research and scrutinize the tools. They conduct thorough examinations, including inspecting the source code, to verify the tools’ safety and reliability for users.

Open Source Investigations: These detailed inquiries highlight particular events linked to armed conflicts or climate change, offering a multifaceted analysis. Such investigations could involve the examination of information shared by social media users or visual content gathered by the investigator from various sources. The investigator applies a critical lens, utilizing best practices specific to open-source inquiries. This approach involves a transparent presentation of the methodologies and tools employed, culminating in the display of findings that align with the editorial stance. The core focus areas of these investigations include advocating for climate justice, addressing human rights abuses within conflict zones, scrutinizing supply chain integrity, and tracking disinformation campaigns.

Investigations: These traditional journalistic reviews explore and dissect ideas from multiple perspectives. As an example, a topic such as the intersection of feminism and climate issues might be selected. The journalist then examines this topic thoroughly, analyzing it from their unique viewpoint. This analysis includes assessing the advantages and disadvantages, as well as exploring the underlying causes and potential effects.

Podcasts:  Our portfolio consists of high-definition audio productions.  “Kayana” and “Ozone” each cast a spotlight on climate change concerns across North Africa and West Asia, respectively. “Kayan” offers a deep dive into the cultural Syrian identity, and “Hangar #12” rigorously investigates corruption in Lebanon.
